Ladyboy

Ladyboy - From Man to Woman, a Fine Line
Ladyboy is a term that falls into the transgender category in Thailand. Ladyboys are men with the wish to express their femininity outwardly. Many men feel a desire to identify with a woman. This desire can develop at a very young age. Little boys of perhaps 5 or 6 can very well feel the urge to be a little girl instead. The wish grows stronger with age. It is a wish that sooner or later you are forced to come to terms with. There are men who have no problem showing their femininity outwardly. One man likes to wear makeup and usually enjoys wearing women's clothes now and then. But there are men who want to be seen as a complete woman in every situation and by society. To get there, though, these men have to invest a great deal of strength and work in the transition to becoming a woman. Smaller procedures such as breast augmentation, removal of the Adam's apple or hormone treatment are part of the transition, while gender-affirming surgery is a very risky procedure. Yet these men accept all of this in order to lead a happy and fulfilled life afterwards.
The Role and Acceptance in Society Today
Especially in countries where Buddhist culture is at home, ladyboys, transgender people or, in German, "Transsexuelle", experience more acceptance than in countries with a different cultural background. Buddhism explains the difference of these people through its faith. According to the Buddhist belief, the reason for what is actually quite a distorted perspective and perception lies in the behavior and actions of a previous life. They are not blamed for being different. It is these people's destiny to lead such a life.
